What it is

Automatic sliding gates run along a fixed track to open and close a vehicle or pedestrian entrance without swinging into the driveway or the street. Because the leaf travels sideways rather than through an arc, sliding systems suit properties where space in front of or behind the gate is limited, or where ground slope makes a hinged gate impractical.

OSIL supplies and installs sliding gate automation sourced from established manufacturers in Italy, Germany and Taiwan, matched to the gate's weight, span and duty cycle — from single-family driveways to high-traffic commercial and industrial entrances.

Already have a gate? In most cases the existing leaf and track can carry automation, so the gate is upgraded rather than replaced. OSIL confirms this on site before quoting.

Where it suits

  • Villa and residential driveways
  • Gated residential compounds
  • Commercial premises and office entrances
  • Industrial facilities and warehouses
  • Parking facility vehicle entrances

Why this one

  • Fits narrow driveways and entrances with limited swing clearance
  • Smooth, controlled motion suited to frequent daily operation
  • Scales from light residential leaves to heavy industrial gates
  • Works with a wide range of control and identification methods

Technical capability

  • Automation sized to gate weight and track length
  • Safety-edge and obstacle-sensing compatible configurations
  • Suitable for light-duty residential and heavy-duty industrial leaves
  • Integrates with loop detectors for vehicle-triggered operation

Three levels to choose from

The mechanics are the same at every level. What changes is the duty the hardware is built for and how much control technology comes with it.

Budget friendly

Pricing depends on the opening, the duty cycle and the controls specified — a survey is what turns a level into a number.

Control and safety options

Specified together with the operator so the gate reacts correctly to a command and to an obstruction.

Remote control

Handheld transmitters for one-touch opening and closing — the standard control method for villas, compounds and staff parking.

RFID

Contactless card or tag identification for controlled, logged entry across residential communities, offices and staff facilities.

Loop detector

In-ground induction loops that sense an approaching or waiting vehicle, used for safe automatic operation of barriers and gates.

Push button

Direct wired actuation from a wall- or post-mounted button — a reliable fallback and primary control for guarded entrances.

GSM dialer

Gate or barrier activation by phone call or SMS, useful for entrances that need remote authorisation without a fixed access list.

Wi-Fi

Network-connected operation for properties that require app-based or networked control of their entrance systems.

Questions about sliding gates

Yes. Because the leaf slides along a track instead of swinging outward or inward, sliding gates are typically the preferred choice where driveway space, slope or street clearance rules out a swing gate.
